Competitive Season

Every year a smaller group of girls from Olympic Gymnastics Academy compete at the Junior Olympic Levels. This competition is a culmination of months of work in the gym.

Girls competition is split into the Fall and Spring compulsory season (Level 5-6) and the Spring optional season (Level 7 and above). The Spring season culminates with the USA Gymnastics Region IV competition, followed by the USA Gymnastics Western Nationals and, finally, by the USA Gymnastics National Competition.

Compulsory girls gymnastics have required moves, routines, and little amount of flexibility for individual strengths. For example, there is one specific piece of music for floor exercise and a required routine. The season ends only with the Minnesota Gymnastics Championships for qualified competitors.

Optional girls gymnastics are open for each competitors strengths, though there are clear guidelines about the levels of difficulty and required connective material in routines. Each competitor is able to tailor their routines and music to their liking.

Olympic Gymnastics Academy is uniquely partnered with the world-renown Geza Pozsar to choreograph the girls beam and floor routines for a professional finish.

Mr. Pozar is the choreographer for Olympic and World Champions, such as Diane Durham, Kristie Phillips, Phoebe Mills, Chelle Stack, Betty Okino, Michele Campi, Kim Zmeskal, Larissa Fontaine, Jennie Thompson, Kristen Maloney, Alissya Beckerman, and Morgan White … plus, the entire 1996 gold medalist US Olympic Team including, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Dominique Dawes, Jaycie Phelps, Amanda Borden, Kerri Strug and Amy Chow.
